Thank you. I am looking forward to the move and I know I'll have many questions.
Hi everyone! We're excited to have you join us in NC. I live in Huntersville. If you have any questions just let me know.
Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone could provide some info on reliable quality daycare...
Hi!
We are all so looking forward to your arrival in NC! If I can be of any help at all, please call, email or blog. I grew up in Kannapolis, lived in Concord for many years and now live in downtown Charlotte. So I know the area quite well. You are going to love North Carolina!!!
Best of luck to you!
Hello CRC,
Do you know the area you are looking to move into? With that we'll be able to help you identify daycare options.
Allan
For the Farmington Hills folks, if anyone is trying to sell a house near Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak or on the East side of the Detroit Metro area, I may have a buyer for you, my Son and his new fiance are looking! Please respond here or call my extension 3545.
Hello!
I am also looking for quality daycares in the Concord/North Charlotte I have a 2mnth old infant. Any feedback would be helpful!
Allan ,
We are looking to move to Concord more than likely, so I would think a daycare in that area would be the best option...
We are looking forward to the move to NC with much anticipation (especially after the last snow storm!) I have a question about our daughter and college. Jim will be moved to NC as of April 21st of this year. Our daughter and I will be moving down the following June (2009) so she can graduate. Do colleges use her move date to NC for residency or her fathers? She is really excited about going to school there, especially Appalachian State. Thanks in advance for any help!
I read that NC Secretary of State requires Emissions testing for vehicle license registration. Does anyone know if an Onstar Vehicle Diagnostic Report is sufficient proof for this requirement?
Response to the Hawns.....Many details to the residency question which I'll send to you in seperate email. There is a good site that explains it and it can be found at:
http://www.ncsu.edu/legal/legal_topics/residency.php
A vehicle safty inspection and emission test is required and must be completed by one of the 7,500 certified inspection stations. Here's a good link to get complete details:

Allan ~ thanks for the response! It was exactly what we were hoping for and what we had thought, but needed to clarify.
hey i was wondering if i could getthe actuall address of the new acn location im looking for an apartment. I was looking in concord but someone told me kannapolis was closer
For the pet lovers...... Are there any good pet spas, pet hospitals, etc. in Concord or Huntersville?
Building Address:
1000 Progress Place
Concord, NC 28025
For Pet Lovers: There are LOTS of wonderful pet spas down here! There is one in the Cornelius/Huntersville area called Camp Wagging Tails. You can watch your pet on a web-cam! I also have a mobile vet that makes house calls! This is great as I have 4 cats and a dog. She is very reasonable and the fee for the house call is only $39. I would be happy to refer you! Also, I have a FANTASTIC pet sitter that will come to your house while you travel, work late, or for whatever you need. Trust me...there are tons of options for the pet lovers!

Regarding pet lovers...
I am most familiar with Charlotte when it comes to spas and groomers. however, when i did live in concord, all of my pets went to Foster Animal Hospital.

They are a WONDERFUL group of doctors and technicians.
I need more info on day cares in the area..... i have a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old
Is there anyone down in NC who has had personal experiences with Knollwood Elementary in Salisbury area? I am serioulsy considering that area, however it is contigent on the schools.
In case anyone missed the email we sent on daycare:
Following is feedback from a few individuals in the Charlotte office. Based on their offers, feel free to follow-up with them via email or on the phone.

My parents live in Concord and my mother has taught in the area for years. I just asked her for some information and below is what she provided as initial feedback…
McGill St. Baptist Church is good and is located on Poplar Tent Road and George Lyles Blvd. They are building a new one on George Lyles that is due to open around August. It is Kids R Kids. Also, Kings Way associated with Kings Way Baptist Church. These are both easy to access from 85 and relatively close to the office.
Also she had some good insight on schools in Concord too, so if you encounter anyone who is looking for their children to go to school there, let me know and I can get that information for them as well. Specially, she can make school suggestions. With the quality of some of the schools in Concord, she would not consider private in the Concord area. Some of the private ones are very poor. She is a great resource when it comes to education in the Concord area and I’d be happy to get more information for anyone who asks.

Here is a website that describes the NC State regulations for child care providers. It explains the star-rating system for all state-approved providers and parents can look the providers up to see their rating.

I have a two year old and just went through all of this trying to find daycare for the first time. Feel free to pass on names to me and I can help them out as much as possible.

I own a nanny placement agency….and we are very up to date on the day cares. Plus the girl who works for me lives in Concord right near our new office and she has a 2 yr old. Some of the day cares might have a waiting list for infants..but we can help by finding a temporary nanny for someone while they are looking. Feel free to have people contact me.
i will have a 14 year old entering high school when we move, and was wondering if anyone could provide opinions on some of the high schools down there. we're trying to find a place in the jay m robinson school district, but would also like to know how people feel about northwest cabarrus high school, and what information they have about the new northwest high school that i've seen in the district maps from the cabarrus county website. any help or info is greaty appreciated, thanks!
From Katie Ward -
A good Website on NC schools is www.ncreportcard.org and is easy to maneuver around if you know the name of the school or the district name. Gives info as to socio-economic make-up, population, size of school and classes, etc. and also shows how each schools compares to the district and state for end of grade test results.
thank you for the reply. that scorecard website is one that i've looked at already, and have compared several schools. but i wanna know what people have to say that have kids in the schools down there. any likes or dislikes, or anything like that.
Although I attended Kannapolis City Schools grades K-12, things have drastically changed since I graduated MANY years ago. The Kannapolis area declined with the closing of Cannon Mills and is in transition as the new Bio-Tech Research Center goes up. I imagine that in the years to come, that school district will grow and develop with the population. Regarding Concord City & Cabarrus County Schools, they too have shifted in balance. Whereas Concord High was the best school in the 80s, things have changed there too. I am going to do a little asking around on the topic and see how locals see Northwest in comparison to Concord High and others. If you do have any specific questions and would like to discuss off blog, email me at mhancock@acninc.com as I realize this can be a sensitive topic.
